Gina Leigh Utyro Memorial Scholarship
This endowment was started in 2009 by Char Utyro in loving memory of her daughter, Gina. Gina was a beautiful young girl who died after a lifelong mitochondrial illness. Gina was fortunate to have so many wonderful and caring nurses to come into her parent’s home to help over the years. The care Gina received from these nurses was very much appreciated and will never be forgotten. Having skilled nursing care helped Gina to remain in her home where she could be surrounded by her family who loved her.
One $250 scholarship is awarded each fall.

Dear Gina Utyro Scholarship Donor,
This scholarship will make a difference in my college experience because it will help me pay for a degree I have always wanted to pursue, without the burden of student loans. The scholarship I received is the Gina Leigh Utyro Memorial Scholarship worth $250. My plan is to earn my associates degree in nursing, then complete my bachelors degree online to earn my BSN. I plan on working in the intermediate care step-down unit at Essentia. I currently work there as a CNA in the critical care float pool, but I would like to further my education. I very much appreciate this generous gift to help me fulfill my dreams.
